LEE ROY MERCER Celebrates 2nd Sharpie 500 Victory With CARL EDWARDS At B-M-S

Carl Edwards waited, and when his chance finally came, he took it. Edwards used the old Bristol tactic to pass Kyle Busch – the dominant driver for most of the race– and held on to win the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

Edwards used the “Bristol bump-and-run,” in turn one to pass Busch on lap 469 and never relinquished the lead.

Busch bumped Edwards after the race in an obvious sign of displeasure at Edwards' physical pass. Edwards' returned the favor, spinning Busch in the track’s front stretch. The site of Busch’s spinning car garnered a loud cheer from the fans.

“They keep talking about rivalries, we might have one now,” Busch told television reporters moments after the race.

Edwards started on the poll and held the top spot until lap 55 when he tangled with the lapped car of Juan Pablo Montoya. Kyle Busch, running in third place, passed Edwards and opened up a sizable lead that he held until Edwards caught him for the winning pass.

Same as last year at Bristol Motor Speedway, Lee Roy Mercer helped to celebrate the win in Victory Lane with Edwards, Jack Roush, and the 99 Office Depot Team at Bristol Motor Speedway.
"That's two Sharpie 500 wins at Bristol two years in a row for Carl and I was here with him and Mr. Jack Roush to celebrate it both times. Third time's gonna be a charm," Mercer told television reporters in Victory Lane.
Edwards' Sharpie 500 win in 2007 at Bristol Motor Speedway was Win #99 for ROUSH in Cup. It was also Ford's first victory with the Car of Tomorrow.

LEE ROY MERCER® has been Whoopin' Ass with his phone pranks for many years. Now Mercer and his dysfunctional redneck family are going to Whoop your Ass right in the comfort of your own home with an animated feature film for TV. For LEE ROY MERCER fans, there are no freakin' sweeter words than "Never Before Seen." A triumphant homecoming for the Bell South Bomber, LEE ROY MERCER - A Whoop-Ass Movie is not so much a movie as it is a not-yet-aired animated three-episodearc enhanced with a home-DVD-exclusive "red carpet premiere" prologue and an epilogue (capped, of course, with a few prank calls.) A Whoop-Ass Movie is a television white trash masterpiece, and its' creator has rewarded the faithful by picking up some all new phone pranks made on today's top name NASCAR Drivers, offending any and all sensibilities (recasting the King of Rock-n-Roll as Lee Roy's next door neighbor and guru of advice, John Burrows.) Lee Roy and his dysfunctional family generally take potshots at anyone on their enemies list in redneck fashion. (Lee Roy fights his long hated nemesis Rojo, who's a one eyed fighting cock that's a Kung Fu Master and also has a bit of a sweet-tooth for Lee Roy's divorced hairdresser/stripper girlfriend Karen.) A Whoop-Ass Movie is a star vehicle for breakout characters Snake and Skinny, Mercer's two boys. The two backwoods brothers use a redneck's famous last words, "Watch This!" as they are always trying to out do one another in death defying stunts around the farm (and disturbing Vietnam flashback encounters with Lee Roy.) And more life-altering, Lee Roy discovers a way to connect with Karen's racially challenged son Zack, who is a tragically white Hip-Hop gangster wannabe (the outcome is truly shocking!). As go the gags, so goes LEE ROY MERCER, and there are more than enough good ones in this installment to keep you in stitches from beginning to end. For LEE ROY MERCER fans these will be some of the greatest stories ever told.

Monique Bailey, Media Relations (12-9-2005)

Tony Stewart finished 15th in the season-ending Ford 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, which was good enough to earn his second NASCAR Cup Series championship in the #20 Home Depot Chevrolet for Joe Gibbs Racing. The 15th place finish wasn't what Stewart or the team was looking for on Sunday night, but it was enough to clinch the title.

"It wasn't pretty, but we got the job done tonight," said a champagne-soaked Stewart. "We were way too tight. We would start off a little on the free side, but we could never get the balance quite right. We kept sneaking up on it, but we knew we were better off being a little too tight than a little too free, so we just made small changes. We could have done more to be more aggressive with it, but we did what we needed to do. We just kept our mind on the big prize. We knew we didn't have a car good enough to win tonight, so we just did what we had to do to win the championship."

Dale Earnhardt Art - Painted By: Bryan Haren
The popularity of NASCAR has spread to numerous types of memorabilia, posters, and even paintings. With paintings like Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Junior, Bristol native Bryan Haren has caught the eye of bigwigs at Bristol Motor Speedway and even Teresa Earnhardt. That hobby is now turning into a career with B-M-S using this Haren painting for the speedway's new Dale Earnhardt terrace.

Tom Bettini Formerly of JACKYL has teamed up with Greg Yates, the former guitar player of David Allan Coe to form a new band called cattleAXE that is gearing up to run full throttle on the NASCAR scene. Record Producer, Jon Holtz worked out an awesome deal with Mr. Dale Brown, CEO / Maker (Luthier) of Zion Guitars who sponsored a magnificent sounding guitar For the recording sessions of "American Redneck™". "Mr. Brown is one hell of a nice guy that makes one hell of an awesome guitar, Dale and the tone of the guitar he sent us saved the day", stated Holtz. WarHead Records will officially endorse Zion Guitars for the 2006 -2007 Lee Roy Mercer "Whoop-Ass Promotional Tour".

Holtz has many production credits to his name and has worked with some of the best in the biz, such as Joe Hardy (ZZ Top, Tom Cochrane) Greg Archilla (Collective Soul, & Pearl Jam) John Hampton (Gin Blossoms, & Blind Melon).

AMERICAN REDNECK™ is the new hit single/bonus track featuring Tom's new Hybrid Rock Band on the new CD release from Lee Roy Mercer entitled, "GONE RACIN'™". The new album also features the Comedic Icon Opening A Can Of Whoop-Ass On Today's Top Name NASCAR Drivers, Crew Chiefs and owners. Critics are calling it a "Forward Thinking, Comedic Effort That Is An Ambitious Prank Call Tour De-Force".

Tom Bettini is ringmaster of cattleAXE's three-ring circus, plays bass guitar, sings and is the "host for the evening". In 1987, Tom started playing bass for Jackyl. Jackyl was signed to Geffen Records in 1991, and their debut recording hit double platinum status. The band toured with Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. They shot four videos which were placed into heavy rotation on MTV. Jackyl's release, "Push Comes to Shove", which was released in 1994, went platinum, and once again they hit the road, this time touring with Aerosmith, Kiss, and Z.Z. Top. This tour earned them a slot on the main stage at "Woodstock '94" enabling them to share their music with 325,000 people in one fell swoop. Jackyl's performance at Woodstock ranked them among the best of the event by Rolling Stone magazine. Tom remained with Jackyl through more Gold and Platinum releases (along with two Guinness World Records) headlining their own tours until 2000. Tom formed Ultra-heavy N2O in 2000, but the group disbanded. This is when cattleAXE was born.

On January 23rd 2003 Rick Mast made it official. Due to carbon monoxide poisoning he was retiring from Nextel Cup racing. In an odd twist of fate, a man whose hard-nosed driving had made a significant impact on the track was making much more impact by being off it. Rick was tough. If carbon monoxide could take him down, others could easily wither. NASCAR listened. So did many fearful drivers who knew that their routine dizzy spells did not come from driving fast. It came from too much CO in the cockpit.

Mast made 364 starts over a 15-year Cup career and holds the record for the most starts without a win. He won the pole for the inaugural Brickyard 400 in 1994 and finished second by a hair to Dale Earnhardt at Rockingham. He also drove for the legendary A.J. Foyt. Rick counts Kenny Schrader, Tony Stewart and Sterling Marlin as good friends and calls Dale Earnhardt his hero and one of the nicest friends he ever had.

"Earnhardt could do more with a car than anybody else, currently there is no equal to him in our sport."

He's full of memories and stories that are frankly unmatched in NASCAR. Including the fact that he traded a cow for his first racecar and while racing for Skoal managed to insult the entire Northeast of the United States. We'll let him tell you about hanging with the fans at Watkins Glen. (10-20-2005)

Friday, September 9th, I spent most of the day visiting some of the Survivors of Hurricane Katrina at a shelter setup for the homeless hurricane victims In Kingsport, TN. The whole experience was very heart wrenching to say the least.

My Personal Manager and some Staff Volunteers helped me to pass out food, water and clothes to the survivors, all of whom where very thankful to receive even the most basic of necessities. I talked with as many of them as I could. We cried together as some shared their story of tragedy with me and we laughed with one another, as a few jokes were passed around to help lift spirits regarding the funnier things in life.

To look into the eyes of these survivors has been truly a very humbling and uplifting experience for me, and it is one I will not soon forget. It left me feeling sad, angry, and yet truly thankful for what we have going on in this Country of ours right now, (Friends and Neighbors United, Helping, Giving, Sharing, Caring, and Looking Out for Their Fellowman.)

The whole experience has restored my belief in the Human Spirit. (09-12-2005)

Lee Roy Mercer arrived at 10:00 pm Via stretch limousine to a huge crowd of fans standing in line anxiously awaiting their Whoop-Ass Prank Call hero. From 10:30pm - 2:00am, the meet and greet table was packed with Loyal Fans grabbin' up T-Shirts and the new CD faster than Greased Lightnin'. Enduring much pain and sportin' a wheelchair due to a recent back injury, Mercer graciously keep going and gave everything he had to his fans with no complaints by making sure no one left without an autographed something another, many of the female fans proudly exposed their knockers to Mercer's delight for signing as well.

The new Hybrid Rock Band cattleAXE, (featuring Tom Bettini formerly of JACKYL and Greg Yates the former guitar player of David Allan Coe) backed up the sold out show with plenty of kick-ass Rock-n-Roll and played to the biggest Friday night crowd the club had ever seen in its twenty years of doing business.

The whole damn thing was filmed as part of an up and coming TV Movie/DVD soon to be released. The CD release party was a huge success, but will undoubtedly be overshadowed by Lee Roy Mercer's 2007 "Whoop-Ass" Tour, supporting the release of his new prank call CD entitled GONE RACIN'™. The album will feature Mercer's famous claim to "Whoop a Man's Ass" delivered to several of the NASCAR-NEXTEL Cup Drivers, Crew Chiefs and Owners. Also Mercer drops a bomb on a Funeral Home caretaker, it seems Lee Roy is in need of an affordable funeral for his wife's mother. Mercer and his two boys have dug the poor old lady up to re-bury her at the new family farm and she's out in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn in a U-Haul trailer.  It Ain't Nothin' For Me To Whoop A Man's Ass!
